“a studio hidden in the bush”
Ginny says she feels incredibly proviliaged to be able to engage with the land and her garden from which she unequivocally gains her inspiration. They are her life and provide the encouragement to paint and interpret what she sees.
From silence to cacophony of birds and frogs, droughts to mesmerising floods, her surroundings are a constant source of change. “I’m not a great sketcher but take a multitude of photos along with painting in plain air, then decide where to go with it in the art room”. She says “not being formally trained gives me the license to break rules I don’t know exist”.
For Ginny as an emerging artist in rural Australia, shipping materials and large canvas’s and face-to-face tuition is complicated by her remoteness. She currently stretches her own canvases because of this and her area, is a studio hidden in the bush on the creek where she can one day, engage and share the space with other artists.
